The object is a suspected 'TOAD' (Tremendous Outburst Amplitude Dwarf nova), according to a private communication we received from Steve Howell, Planetary Science Institute, AZ. The outburst detection has been confirmed by Eric Broens, Mol, Belgium. Since very little is known about QY Per, and because professional astro- nomers have expressed interest in monitoring the object, we strongly recommend observers to send us their observations covering the present outburst. A GSC-based sequence is available from the undersigned. QY Per coordinates [1] : R.A. 03h15m37.93s Decl. +42d28'00.9" (2000.0) Available observations : 1994 Oct 14.058 UT, [14.5 (T. Vanmunster, 0.35-m refl, seq: GSC); Oct 25.888 UT, 14.0 (T. Vanmunster); Oct 25.917 UT, 14.1 (E. Broens, 0.35-m refl, seq: GSC); According to our Cataclysmic Variables Activity Database, no previous visual outburst observations of QY Per exist. The event has been confirmed by Eric Broens, Mol, Belgium. Observations are as follows : 1994 Oct 24.847 UT, [15.3 (T. Vanmunster, 0.35-m refl, seq: AAVSO); Oct 25.599 UT, [13.0 (M. Moriyama, Nagasaki, Japan, 0.33-m refl); Oct 25.854 UT, 13.7 (T. Vanmunster); Oct 25.865 UT, 13.8 (E. Broens, 0.35-m refl, seq: AAVSO); The previous outburst of V632 Cyg was observed on July 12, 1994, by Dave York, Abiquiu, NM and Tonny Vanmunster. The star reached a maximum magnitude of 14.2 during that outburst [CVC No.10]. Tonny Vanmunster
