Subsequent confirmation has come from Tonny Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium. Available observations : 1994 Dec 20.790 UT, [13.9 (T. Vanmunster, 0.35-m refl., seq: AAVSO); Dec 21.771 UT, 13.8 (G. Poyner, 0.40-m refl., seq: TA); Dec 22.795 UT, 13.4 (T. Vanmunster); V542 Cyg was last seen in outburst on June 24, 1994 by Tonny Vanmunster. The star then became as bright as mag 12.8. In [1], Bruch & Schimpke indicate that the classification of V542 Cyg as a dwarf nova is doubtful, based on spectroscopic observations. Recent visual observations, reported in these CVC's [2] and other sources, however seem to indicate that a classification of V542 Cyg as a dwarf nova by Gotz in 1955 is correct. Robertson, Indiana University, USA of an outburst detection of FS Aur, using the Indiana University RoboScope automated telescope. FS Aur is a poorly studied dwarf nova type cataclysmic variable, which is on the Belgian Cataclysmic Variables Alert Programme (CVAP). Observers are highly encouraged to send us their outburst observations. We can provide a finder chart and sequence for this object. 1994 Dec 09.946 UT, [15.0 (T. Broens, Belgium, 0.35-m refl, seq: GSC); According to our records, the object was last seen in outburst on 1994 Oct 10 when it reached mag. 15.0 (Vanmunster).
