Taichi Kato, Ouda Station, Japan comments : "The outburst duty cycle (fraction of observations brighter than mag 14.0) of V795 Cyg is estimated at 0.016. This value is one of the smallest among dwarf novae confirmed or suspected to be above the period gap. The observations of the current outburst might provide a clue in understading the physics of dwarf novae of this kind. V795 Cyg is on the Recurrent Objects Programme (The Astronomer, UK) and was last seen in outburst on August 26, 1994 by P. Schmeer, Germany (mag. 12.9). Available observations covering the present outburst are summarized in the table below : ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DATE (UT) MAGN MS SEQ OBSERVER REMARKS SOURCE ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1995 05 01.022 [15.4 mv TA Poyner, G. 40-cm refl. priv(POY) 1995 05 02.05 [14.6 mv TA Jensen, L. 33-cm refl. priv(JEN) 1995 05 02.944 13.5 mv TA Vanmunster, T. 35-cm refl. His observation is in conflict with the estimate obtained by Jensen around the same moment (see summary above). V1113 Cyg [UGSU, 14p - <17p] ============================ Confirmation for the outburst announcement (CVC 35) has been received from Tonny Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium and Bill Worraker, Didcot, UK. VVS AL Com [UGWZ, 12.8v - 22v] ========================== The photometric summary below clearly illustrates AL Com is starting to enter a critical phase of its lightcurve : observers with large aperture telescopes are urged to continue their observations, now that AL Com is getting fainter than mag. 15. Even if the variable becomes invisible in your instrument, it's extremely important to keep on monitoring the object, since most astronomers expect that AL Com will exhibit a 'secondary' maximum. Recent messages on VSNET furthermore indicate AL Com now is declining at a high rate of approx. 0.8 mag/day, which is characteristic for the so called "dip" phenomenon, observed in many UGSU superoutbursts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DATE (UT) MAGN MS SEQ OBSERVER REMARKS SOURCE ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1995 04 06.966 12.0 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 06.977 12.1 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 06.990 12.1 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 07.007 12.1 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 07.021 12.0 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 07.039 12.0 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 10.868 12.8 mv BS * Worraker, B. 26-cm refl. priv(WOR) 1995 04 18.7 13.3 mv BS * Gunther, J. 30-cm refl.
