It is 1329-294, LY Hya, and has a V mag of 14.4. The orbital period is below the gap so it should be an SU UMa type dwarf nova." LY Hya is located at : R.A. = 13h31m53.93s, decl.= -29d40'59.9" (J2000.0). The editor has compared this observation with a VSNET chart provided by Taichi Kato, Kyoto University, Japan (CCD V-image, dated 1996, Jan. 12). The object clearly was below the detection limit (i.e. V < 17.3). Hence, chances are high that LY Hya currently is undergoing a rare outburst. According to Steve Howell, no outburst observations are yet known. Additional information on LY Hya is available in MNRAS, 267, 957, 1994 (Still et al.). We have prepared a finder chart and sequence for LY Hya, which are available through the Cataclysmic Variables Home Page. The object also has been added to the Cataclysmic Variables Alert Programme CVAP. Tonny Vanmunster
