The Light curve generator makes it possible to show light curves of the objects observed by the members
of the Working Group Variable Stars of the VVS.
Description of the fields:
Object / Designation
One of these field is required to select an object. The field Object accepts the name of the object for
which the light curve has to be shown. If this field is filled out then the value entered in the
Designation field is irrelevant. If one wants to use the Harvard Designation instead of the
object name, the Object field has to remain empty.
JD range / Date range / Last days / Number of periods
With these fields it is possible to enter a timespan for the requested observations. Time fields higher in
the form take precedence of time fields lower in the form, i.e. when a JD is entered values entered
into the date fields are neglected.
With all time fields left empty, all available observations of the object will be used. Filling out
the start JD / date and leaving the end JD / date empty uses the data starting from the
entered JD / date until the current time. Filling out the end values and leaving the start values empty
retrieves the observations from the first available observation until the entered end time.
The entry field Last days doesn't require further explanation.
The entry field Number of periods is used to display the most recent x periods. For dwarfnovae the
recurrenc time is used if it is known. For stars without a known period or recurrence time the last 365 days will
be shown.
Observer 1 / Observer 2 / Observer 3
With this fields you can display in different colors
different observers. You have to fill in the VVS WVS initials, these initials are different of the AAVSO initials.
Negative Obs
Flag to show upper limit observations. If the star was invisible the magnitude
of the faintest visible comparison could be reported.
