Variable Stars, Visual Light Curves

The 238 pages of this book give an overview of the results of the Working Group. With this overview, we want to encourage the reader to start observing or to choose his or her variables. We hope this book is a handy reference for the experienced observer. The overview is divided according to the classification of variable stars in the General Catalogue of Variable Stars. Every chapter starts with a brief overview of the most important features of the variable's type. Subsequently, light curves of the best observed variables belonging to the type under consideration are shown.

The light curves are composed of observations done by all observers ever since the foundation of the Working Group in 1968. Every light curve is accompanied by a table giving the variable's name, type/subtype, position, minimum and maximum brightness and - in case of periodic variables - period and epoch. A phase diagram is added with every Mira star.

The book also contains a list of the observers and an object index. The text is in English, so this book is also interesting for our non-dutch speaking colleagues.

The price for this book is only 13 Euro, shipping not included. For ordering information contact Eric Broens.
